It can be caused by incorrect settings in the options of your Internet Explorer or AOL browsers, or by a broken browser. It does not occur with Netscape browsers.
Firstly, please make sure you are using Internet Explorer 4 or 5. If you are using AOL, Internet Explorer is probably installed on your computer (check the start menu under programs). If you don't have Internet Explorer 4 or 5 please get the latest version for free from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
Click the Security tab, and then click Internet Zone in the Zone box.
Click Custom (For Expert Users), and then click Settings.
Under User Authentication, click "Prompt for user name and password," click OK, and then click OK again.
Click the Security tab, and then click Internet in the Zone box.
Click Custom Level.
Under User Authentication, click "Prompt for user name and password," click OK, and then click OK again.
Hope this helps!
